Christmas tiangge at novaliches

Location: Robinson's Novaliches

Tiangges are a staple Pinoy Christmas requirement for everyone for the simple reason that you don't seriously drown in consumerism compared to buying stuff from your local mall. This week we daily featured Christmas Tiangges, or "strip malls".

I forgot the title of the event, dammit

Caloocan

Snake day- Screw "Kamandag"

Guest: Inez Veneracion
Location: Novaliches ata, can't remember

Ask me why Snake day?
This was supposedly for tha launch of the GMA Primetime show that I know nothing of, nor care for that matter.
But they didn't really gave us anything their show related, so we mounted our own reptilian event, with boas in tow.
---
It's short airtime, or worse, nothing at all-- is every live morning tv remote producer's nightmare.
That took place during this event.
It didn't helped that there are some annoying loud people to worsen the already fucky situation.
Punyeta.

Special thanks to Inez Veneracion's tsismis and gay quips. She made my day.

Huwag gayahin

A note to aspiring young kids: Don't let success go over your head too much.
that's unhealthy.

Nadine S@monte hasn't earned too much to declare herself as a diva.
Kid, don't give us the attitude. Do that when you've earned yourself to gain respect. Because even Ms. Manilyn Reynes herself is well grounded, and she's got everything in the world to act like one, yet, she's remained modest despite her success.

Just because your face is adorning the billboards in obscure places doesn't give you the authority to act like did to my researcher.

The transformers of Marikina city

Marikina city hall, Marikina

Notes:
1. Truckie the UH mobile truck wasn't there. The Marikina government office offered a truck that resembles truckie.
Too bad it rained pretty hard at the location, forcing us to move inside the city hall premises.

2. A group of Cosplay fanatics are the brains behind the cool costumes worn by the three hosts. Mark Cerezo & the rest of ground zero

3. I was in a good mood during the entire duration of my event. I wonder why. no Edric, it's not you. I'm actually nice already. Haha

2007 Undas Coverage

Manila South Cemetery, Makati, MM.

This is an annual event wherein unnecessary stress occurs.
Redundancy.
Exhaustion
Sleeplessness.
Efforts have gone kaput.
On a lighter side, thankfully I get to experience this once a year.
I love my job, after all.
:)

One thing we've learned-- there are a lot of pinoys making a living watching over the dead.
This old lady right here lives in the cemetery, cleaning the tomb of some person she works for.
She gets paid 600 a year. Whoa.

Villamor Air Base, Pasay City

Call me weird but Wide open spaces are not really my type of thing whenever I'd go and have an event.
I have no control.
To top it off one of my hosts waltzed in an hour late.
I was so pissed that I didn't bother to take a video.
How fucked up is that?

2nd Alimango & Sugpo Festival

Location: Orani, Bataan

Notes:
Monday night, 11pm: Dragging my sleepy carcass to work, I pondered why so early. I arrived at the station seeing the crew & the rest of my team gettin ready to pull out from the station.

11:10pm: Bataan bound. I plugged my earphones and drowned in ricky martin's spanish canciones. *sigh* I slept on the way

1:20am, Tuesday- beautiful location. I remember I was also here last year. This year is way organized than last year's. I liked that.

2:00am I zonked back to sleep

4:30am: Alarmed upon waking up to see the watch. Crap! I overslept. I got ready.

5:15am- start of the show

8:30am- show ends, pack-up

Tunog tao & the oiliest face this side of showbiz

I do not associate myself with showbiz workwise.
In as much as i can, i steer clear from any of it.
Anyhoo, in any of my live segments, i make sure that the young guest celebs give due respect to my hosts.
Last friday, we had four young celebs as guest for one dance segment.
My researcher reported that the kids didn't even greet my hosts upon introduction.
While they did not showed any form of disrespect to me, let me just say this:
You disrespectful turds have a lot to learn and should always recognize the senior artists.
Oh, the oiliest face I'm talking about is that starstruck girl who looks a lot like KC Concepcion. While KC has breeding, style, class and manners, this one doesn't.
I don't know her and I didn't bother to take a photo either.
When you're a celebrity you're obliged to do what you are told.
You do not exhibit any form of disgust to the crowd, because you are there because of them.
Oh and always carry a shine absorber paper. You're too oily.

Carnapped vehicle

4:15 am- an hour before the show starts, there was a frantic phonecall from the manager of the Go Girls (the dancers we hire for the show). Turns out the service vehicle they were about stolen.
Instead of focusing on the live event, a fraction of my mind was on the incident. I ruminated how we all are vulnerable to these types of situations. Good thing no one was hurt. It was devastating how all the stuff of the girls were also stolen but at least everyone was okay, albeit the slight trauma. *sigh*

Brgy. Bagung Bayan,
Taguig,Metro Manila
Guests: Andrew E/ "Movers", Beat guys

I always declare how I hate kids, but everyone was just genuinely happy here, I was dumbfounded by how the kids knew every single word of Andrew E's song.

I always say how I hated crowds on my event, but this was a good crowd.

This is the classic "humanap ka ng panget" song that I remember being very popular when I was growing up, but he added a new ring to it that everyone was singing with him.

First day of school frenzy

Ang public-school education sa Pilipinas ay talagang naka-aawa.
Biruin nyo sa isang classroom ang average na estudyante ay tumataya mula 40-70 children?
Hindi pa dyan natatapos yan. may inilalaan lamang na apat hanggang limang oras na pagututuro sa bawat classroom, a far cry of an average 7-8 hours in private schools.

Eleksyon 2007 Coverage- Day 1

The coldest, longest 15 hours
(Sa Loob ng War room)

War Room: Where the remote coordination from various remote points all over the country are done

Linggo, 10:30pm: I arrived at the station with the feeling of dread: I was too early so I had no choice but to be alone in the office (one of things I hate because it's nighttime and I'm such a chicken)waiting for ate carol, who has the same shift as I do.

12:15am: Ate Carol finally arrived and we both realized that we're too early still. We loitered around the station, ate checked out stuff that needs to be done, oddly, not too many people were around. We started wondering if there was any coverage at all. It was too calm that we were afraid a surge of people would come in a flash.

2:00am Following a midnight snack and a quick power nap, things got rolling at the war room. War room started to get busy. All the bosses were there! I thought to myself: "Daym this is such a big deal!". (I can be such a kid sometimes)
After Ma'am Jess' prayer, the entire room were in whoo-hoo mode and energetic screams.

4:00am The official start of one of the longest coverage I've been in: Think Unang hirit times three. I'm not complaining, I'm thankful I was inside the station. I feel for those who were in the remote areas because the temperature outside was scorching.

8:00am I checked out the clock and was surprised to see it was only 8am, I was used to that hour being close to our morning show's ending. I still had five hours left on my shift. Five freakin hours!

1:00pm: With ate carol's evident reluctance, I dragged her out of the war room: I was getting cranky and tired and our shift's over. I can't wait to hit the sheets.

Notes:
1. I didn't get to vote.
2. Caffeine doesn't wake me up the way it used to; or maybe the instant coffee wasn't just strong
3. Energy drinks were not effective too.
4. I kept nodding off my sleepiness at the war room: Me after all these years of working at abnormal hours, still the eternal sleepyhead
5. Mam Jess, still get me all starstrucked despite working for her in the news department for the longest time. She's one of those people who's got a presence and one of the kindest bosses around.

Cerealicious snack bar

Sherwood Place, Taft Avenue, Manila

Despite the constant workload during events, be it live event or a taped segment, I never forget to snap a photo or two, to document my work. My camera is always with me whenever I'd do my segments. For some bizaare reason, despite the fairly laid-back environment of the snack bar we featured, I, the eternal photo whore for documentation purposes forgot.

Something is terribly bugging me when we shot this.

3rd Luyang Dilaw Festival segueway sa "Who's your Daddy?" Sitcom shoot

Marilao, Bulacan
Live Coverage 5:15am-8:30am

(the weirdest sounding fiesta to date)
Masasaya ang mga taga Marilao, Bulacan. Masaya ang crew ko. Masaya ang Host ko, Mukhang masaya naman ang researcher kong si MC. Ako lang ang hindi. Ewan ko ba, stressed ako lately, nyeta. Hay. Mahaba-haba pa ang araw ko dahil while doing live, I'm mapping out how to go about the shoot ng "Who's your daddy now?" isang sitcom.

---
Segment shoot: "Who's Your Daddy Now?" set
1:00pm-6:00pm- Filmex, Makati

I can't remember if I've mentioned sitcoms aren't my cup of tea. Sitcoms required long waiting hours. Actually, shooting behind the scenes and sitcoms require long hours eternity talaga. "Who's your daddy now?" Is the latest addition to GMA's roster of sitcoms that I wouldn't waste time watching. So it was ironic I was shooting it, my motivating factor was the fact that my favorite researcher Shelly initiated this shoot, otherwise ayoko talaga. Pasaway talaga. By the time I went back to GMA, I was so out of it due to sheer exhaustion.

Hell no, tell me you didn't do that to the chickens

8th Kinulob Festival-Mabini, Batangas

before

after

I do not have any attachment nor affinity to chickens the same way as I view pigs or other any four-legged animals; Manok for me is edible. I do not get all angry, teary-eyed or go "aaaaw" whenever I'd see a chicken being slaughtered on TV, but must they do this to my semi-favorite meat? Dress them up before having to devour them?
Hell no.
Kinulob is a Batangueno word and an old-fashioned way of broiling chicken. This is how they do it in Mabini, Batangas. To commemorate their proud ways of broiling chicken old skul, they've initiated a festival in honor or it along with their patron saint. Most funny thing, I was there for more than five hours but when it was time for us to be fed, Mayor's staff served us hefty amounts of pork. How funny is that?
Where have all the chickens gone?

The Packing fenzy over P@cquiao

Pacquiao Arrival coverage

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Nasa kalagitnaan ako ng panaginip ng tumawag ang asawa ko at around three in the mornin. When I hung up after talkin to my candyman, I saw 5 missed calls. Nyeta! Akalain mong tinatawagan pala ako ng mga kasama ko as early as 11pm the previous night. Turns out darating si pareng Manny fresh from winning that boxing title in San Antonio, Texas and kelangan din daw ako sumama sa coverage.
Pota. I had the 2nd quickest shower in my bathing history and flew to the location.
The coverage wasn't actually as unruly and messy as compared to the last time he went home after a fight. I was happily traipsing Manila Hotel in my hot shoes and girly purple blouse, haha.
---
The coverage, objective and content-wise, I believe was near disaster as the two networks were up to thier necks to prove who's better in airing the story. It didn't help that our reporters and the other station's were both (almost) inconsiderate in sharing the Pinoy boxer icon. Apparently taking turns in airing live is not an option, it is never considered. Get the better angle, ask the better questions.
---
All the while my thoughts were somewhere else. Just thinking that if this boxer guy does continue to run for politics, he's heading for a catastrophe. To quote him some months ago when it was rumored that he's running for politics, he uttered, "I'm a boxer, not a politician..."
So what the hell happened to that statement he made?
---
I have to hand it to our reporters, of course. It's not easy to spurt out questions when the competition is so hell bent on capturing the attention of the same interviewee, never considering any form of respect to their colleagues.

5th Pandan Festival (NA NAMAN?!?)

This time sa Mapandan, Pangasinan
Live airing: Kahapon, April 10, 2006
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

A week after that Luisiana Festival, here I am covering another Pandan Festival on the very same day a week before. Hahaha.
That four-hour drive to Pangasinan was so worth it that I regret making a face when that assignment was given to me last week before Holy week vacation. I felt that fresh rush (again) of going live for the first time again. For some unexplainable reason, all the three segments which aired was well worth every airtime, I thought.

Sometimes in my other live remote coverages, I just do it for the freakin heck of it. But this one, I've proven to myself that this work of mine, despite several instances where our health and happiness are compromised, I find true sense in what I'm doing.
Haha. Eeew. I sound so packing dramatic its disgusting.
