Live studio Assignment Showbiz Yearender

Guest commentor:
Tito Alfie Lorenzo

What I've worked for three solid days slaving my ass over the weekend was pretty worth it because feisty showbiz columnist and manager to the stars Alfie Lorenzo grazed my segment to diss out the good the bad and the ugly about this year's roundup of showbiz stories.

Who cares if the editing was rigorous? I deem that Tito Alfie's comments on his own stood up, fearlessly saying some libelous things against stupid tv stars. Hahaha

And since I do not have my camera, I'll just wait until the segment is posted in the show's webpage where I can steal the photos.

Live studio assignment: Hyper acidity and Christmas birds part 2

What a perfect combination! hahaha
Three french hens-

two turtle doves

a partridge in a pear tree

Trivia: According to our resident Animal zoo guy guest Kuya Noel Rafael, The partridge bird doesn't land on trees but on soil.
So the song isn't accurate.

Studio assignment: Christmas birds & recyled christmas wrapping ideas

Segment 1: Christmas Birds

more here
Whoever wrote this, mixed it all up. My story is about CHRISTMAS BIRDS, NOT CHRISTMAS PETS SUGGESTIONS.

And Noel didn't just bring 2 kinds of birds, he brought four kinds, the ones included in the song "Twelve days of Christmas".

Segment 2: Meet the brains behind Papemelroti
Mr. Robert Alejandro

I grew up loving those recycled PAPEMELROTI stationery and other products. They have the most creative crafts and papers and 100% made from recycled materials.
Not only that, they sell their wonderful stuff at very affordable prices.
PAPEMELROTI screams, educates and slaps you with their constant reminder of love for mother earth and recycle you messy morons.

I was pretty starstrucked when I met sir Robert. I have the highest respect for journalists (he works for the PROBE TEAM, the one TV show who revolutionized PHILIPPINE DOCUMENTARIES) and artists, not from shallow actors that do not contribute anything to stimulate the braincells of the youth.

Crap, I shoulda ask for an autograph.

Pinoy Sole survivor um... what's-his-name-again?

Location: Brgy old Zaniga, Mandaluyong

I'm pretty sure he's a pretty nice guy with a pretty face but man, never force someone who can't dance and shove him in front of the TV cameras.
It's a shame to see it on national TV.

2008 Indakan Festival

Location: San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan
Guest Host: Joseph Bitangcol

Maybe you're asking why an actor from Channel 2 talent guest hosting a segment for a morning show in Channel 7?

Your guess is as good as mine. hahahaha.
Anyway, our segments went good and the kid worked really hard. Never had any problems with this coverage. He's performed well with his hosting, and his dance segment was good.

Fan's day Jolina- Album launch & Movie launch

Location: Santolan Highschool
There's something about J0lina Magd@ngal that draws you in: It's her sheer simplicity and humility.

Despite the fame she's enjoyed for years, (I watched her on TV when I was growing up) she's remained down to earth: She's very professional, very easy to talk to and very very nice.

If you see closely I'm there. Haha

Croc farm part 2

Location: Pasay
Thanks Suzette for standing in as the Assistant director

Guest hosts Joaquin Valdez/ Monica Verano
They have potential in TV hosting. Both are refreshingly perky in the morning, without appearing dumb. They both know what they're talking about.

This is deja vu all over again

Breakfast menu for under P50!
Location: Commonwealth Market for the 1000th time.

12:00midnight. Friday. Coming straight from my other job, I went back to GMA with no clear event.

Worse, no researcher. My bestfriend Raymond took over trying to look for a location. (thanks, peks!)
Why do I feel like this has happened before?

12:03. Upon orders from my executive producer, I called Chef Tristan and asked if he can make a segment. Luckily while half-asleep, he agreed.

From that time till we air, I researched, coordinated contacts and wrote my own script.
Where's my researcher?

No, no one walked out. She was just sick.

Kaye, I commend you for still being able to function despite being sick. Thank you for initially coordinating the event that didn't stand out.

3rd W@ter Lily Festival

Location: Las Pinas, Manila

With no sleep, Kaye my researcher, Production assistant Kuya Jari & me we arrived at around 3ish in the morning at the location. I was a little annoyed to see the people of L@s Pin@s were already there.

Normally, in Festival coverages such as this, people flock in a little before five in the morning, before the show starts.
But apparently these ones were too excited. So adios sleep.
I so appreciate the excitement of the people though.

His last name sounds like a curse word

location: Rizal memorial stadium, Manila
Training with the lone Olympic hopeful boxer (light flyweight division) Harry Tanyamor

We have a guest host, crap I forgot the kid's name (left) That's my smart researcher EJ on my right.

Eagle gave him some pointers on how to host a magazine show to the newbie kid:
Walang pakielam ang tao sa opinion mo, ang trabaho mo ay maging eyes and ears ng storya mo, at yun ang ibibida mo sa kanila!

A nightmare no segment producer would ever want to go through

Location: Commonwealth Market, Commonwealth Avenue, Q.C.

Price list ng dry goods sa Palengke

The nightmare I'm talking about is executing live remote without a researcher.
The day I stood alone as SP/ researcher was three years ago when I was training to be a producer.
I have my senior producer with my back then, so technically I wasn't alone.
A standing SP alone during live has never happened before, ever.

But, I always look on the brighter side.
And while the live event continuously poured literally, there's always something (if not so bright) at the end.
I'm still thinking what it is.

Event: House tour sa Parents' house ni Geneva Cruz

Location: Las Pinas, Metro Manila
Geneva Cruz is best remembered in the late 1980s as the only girl in the talented singing group called "Smokey Mountain"

Multi awarded singer and interpreter, she has represented the country in numerous competition. Now she's married to Mtv Pilipinas VJ KC Montero.

Location: Taguig city

Know-it-alls should've died and tried to taking my place in this live.
Or even better, they should be fed to mutant banaks (freshwater fish.
Despite annoying fuckers who think they knew better, this event went smoothly all in all.

Daisy Siete season 19- Vaklushi

Location: Project 4, Q.C.
What is Vaklushi?
Apparently, it is a term coined for a girl trying to pass up as gay guy.
Who would want to do that in real life, you ask? beats me.
However, Daisy Siete is one of the longest running afternoon soaps on GMA.

Artistic Gymnastics

Location: Club Gymnastica, Brgy Capitolyo Pasig
(Lagi akong nasa Pasig almost every week)
Does this have some cosmic connection with the fact that I work in Ortigas, Pasig?
I dunno. Just typical coincidence I guess.
Researcher EJ was with me on this live segment.
Host Regine & Drew

Artistic Gymnastics- one of the 5 forms of Gymnastics.
Categories that fall under these are bars, floor, vault and balance beam.
I didn't know that. I thought it was all dancing on the floor with balls and ribbons and hula hoops and stuff.
Now I do. In this job, you learn everything.

Budget friendly Cooking sa Commonwealth Market with Chef Tristan

Gracielle, lookie!

I've never had Chef Tristan Encarnacion in any of my live remote segments. This is the first time. Gracielle dear, this is for you, since you're crazy of the chef so much. He says hi btw.. naks!

Recipe of the day:
Chef's Sweet Asian Lomo
(Disclaimer: I don't eat meat, but I'm sure judging from my hungry technical crew's faces, its good stuff)

1/4 Pork Lomo
String beans
Garlic
Onion
Pepper
The rest ewan ko I forgot haha

Ang pagbabalik ng aking paboritong Floor director on earth

Event: 1st Bangkarera festival/ 435th Foundation anniversary ng Pasig
Location: Pasig City Hall

It's nice when you work well with a well-oiled machine. Meet Nesty Medina. Our original remote floor director. Coupled with a good team like us, (haha) live remotes like these seemed a breeze when Nesty's around.
They make us all crack up with his crazy way of communicating with people.

We love him, and my researcher today EJ did a great job while on the floor. I should have more live events like these.

Somewhere in Tomas Morato

Suzi's birthday- Last minute changes

Where will I start?
***long sigh***

Sunday, June 22.2008 Notes from the last minute change of live event due to the storm Two weeks ago, we have conceptualized a segment for Ms. Suzi Entrata-Abrera's birthday. Suzi's one of the host in UH. Everything was working well until the storm hit over the weekend, causing our live event to change and we have to start from square one. >>sadface<< 8.pm, Sunday- Typhoon Frank was still lashing Manila. I reported for work, with my tatay driving me to the station 9ish-Navotas, Manila. We waded (the service vehicle rather) in water. Driver was apprehensive because we might lose breaks. Location is Navotas, which is typically the hardest hit in the metro whenever there's huge rain. 11pm-Finalized the event to be held at some public school which was turned into a temporary shelter for "informal settlers" by the bay- a politically correct way of saying "homeless people" or "squatters" From the original concept of having a mini sportsfest for suzi's birtday, it was turned into a sort of "Suzi gives back" day. Her relatives were very helpful to lend a hand to feed the homeless. I'm halfway done with the hellweek. Wednesday is yet to come. Funny video behind the scenes: Our cameramen Kuya Ricky and Kuya Mark bickering.

Divisoria to Commonwealth Market to I dunno what

UH is one of the toughest shows in Public affairs department.
Not everyone can be on the morning show, and from what I've learned through the years is to be resilient, to be proactive and not to get caught up emotionally.
Some people fail to do that.

Brigada eskwela- Payatas C Elementary school

Monday, May 19

Fact: Majority of children in public schools go to school starving, for the lack of food as most of the kids live below the poverty line.

Fact: More than half of the Philippine Public schools in Manila alone have inadequate resources, if not access, to good education.
To a few ones in the metro, the public schools suffer great scarcity in classroom.
One of them is Payatass C elementary school.
After airing the live segment, Dep Ed initiated to put makeshift classrooms for them.
This is one of the reasons why i love my job. That rewarding feeling of being instrumental to help out.

Mall 168 Back to school shopping

Nothing beats retail theraphy in the biggest bargain capital of Manila-- Divisoria
Divisoria is notorious with nasty smelly crowd. Virtually carless streets swarming with people in search of amazing bargains.
I had recollections of going to crowded Divisoria with my mother when I was small.
All of that changed when Mall 168 was born a few years back.

Volet's Resort- Dasmarinas, Cavite

Guests: Voyz Avenue (a boyband)don't ask.
Go Girls

Feature aside from the resort itself:
1. Scented Flip flops (which btw I deem unnecessary and utterly useless) Php 600 for a pair of slippers? Who am I kidding?

2. Enviro-sax (a durable, reusable shopping environmental bag which claims it can carry 20 kg, despite looking like a piece of rag.)
To be quite honest, it's a steal for Php 375.
It can look really neat as a laptop bag for me, haha.
But I didn't buy any. I'm too kuripot lately.

A fucky fucky event

Club Manila East, Taytay Rizal

First two segments of this event went okay.
Until the third one fucked me over.
I wanted to wring the neck of everyone who got into my way.
it's so annoying it's not even funny.
It was an insult to the beautiful resort to feel as rotten as I did.
So on a lighter note, I guess I'd look on the brighter side instead.
The weather wasn't scorching.
The people around were very easy to deal with (the guests, not the staff)
The resort was pretty.
